530A Trump Accounts Have Moved to Auto-Enrollment

Beginning October 1, the U.S. Treasury automatically created 530A Trump Accounts for eligible children, replacing the previous process in which families created accounts individually.

It’s an important change.

Under the previous approach, children could miss out simply because their family didn’t know about the program, didn’t hear about it in time, or hadn’t yet opened an account. Auto-enrollment means an account can exist for an eligible child without their family having to take that first step.

That matters because certain contributions, including Michael and Susan Dell’s $250 contribution, can reach eligible children’s accounts without families first having to claim them. The money can get invested sooner and have more time to grow.

What families should know

If your child is eligible for a Trump Account, their account has been created automatically. You do not need to create it yourself.

Visit TrumpAccounts.gov or use the official Trump Accounts app to access your child’s account and see and manage what’s there.

The Dell $250 contribution is separate. Families do not need to apply or take any action to receive it. The contribution will be deposited directly into eligible children’s accounts and invested for their future.

Parents who already have accounts will receive a notification when the Dell contribution is deposited.

Families are encouraged to access their child’s account as soon as possible to manage investments, update account information, and monitor contributions.

Already created an account or submitted Form 4547?

If you created your child’s account or submitted Form 4547 before October 1, your child will remain eligible under the rules that applied at that time. Auto-enrollment does not change that.
